Welcome to Reception Class

Welcoming you in Reception are Mrs. Sullivan, Mrs. Kinghorn and Mrs. Unal.

In our class we promote child-led learning as much as possible with adults acting as facilitators to their learning through careful questioning and setting challenges within the children’s interests.
 
Phonics are taught through the Little Wandle programme, building the stepping stones to reading. Little Wandle also helps us practise forming our letters and teaching us to write words by encouraging children to sound them out. Maths is mainly promoted through our provision with opportunities for whole class learning each day too.
 
Reception is the foundation for starting school and we work hard to help the children become more independent and resilient learners.
 
At Stead Lane we are very fortunate to have fantastic outdoor space and we like to make the most of this!
